cPL is a blood test that checks the health of the pancreas.

The pancreas helps digest food. When it becomes irritated or inflamed, it can cause a dog to feel very sick.

What does cPL tell us?

cPL helps show whether the pancreas is likely involved in a dog’s symptoms.

Normal cPL
The pancreas is likely not the problem.

High cPL
The pancreas may be inflamed, a condition commonly called pancreatitis.

Why is this helpful for breeders?

Helps explain sudden vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite

Useful when a dog is painful, lethargic, or not eating

Helps determine whether symptoms are more than a mild stomach upset

Supports faster veterinary decisions and treatment

Reduces guesswork during stressful situations

When do breeders typically use cPL?

Ongoing or severe digestive upset

Dogs that are not improving as expected

Breeding dogs where health stability is especially important

Situations where early treatment can prevent worsening illness
